Secondary School Leadership
The Secondary School at KIS
In our Secondary School at KIS International School Reignwood Park we put students at the center of all we do, guiding them to become active problem solvers, empowered to thrive in the real world. In our first year, beginning August 2024, we opened with classes up to Grade 9 in Secondary School. As part of our planned growth, we are now proud to offer up to Grade 11 in the 2026–27 academic year. Our first graduating class will complete the IB Diploma in June 2028.
Students study through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme from Grade 6 to 10 before continuing with either the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12.
Weekly & Full Boarding Options
We offer weekly and full boarding options for students in our safe and secure dedicated KIS Boarding Village within our main school campus. Stylish and comfortable bedrooms with private bathrooms and ample storage ensure a home away from home with two or four beds per room and single rooms for senior students. 24 hour security and constant contact between parents and our boarding team plus an open door policy for families to visit ensure the very best environment for students.
As well as the opportunities our world class 60-acre campus can offer, boarders have their own dedicated multi-purpose dining hall, study areas, and leisure and relaxation areas within our KIS Boarding Village. The perfect environment to offer study support and a breadth of activities during the evenings and weekends so students can grow their interests, confidence and independence in readiness for success at university and beyond.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a comprehensive curriculum framework of academic challenge and life skills appropriate for 11-16 year-olds (Grade 6 – Grade 10). The MYP is designed to foster students’ independence and responsibility and to develop internationally minded attitudes while encouraging creativity, cooperation, and compassion for others. Learning activities cultivate a hands-on approach to learning with the aim of balancing intellectual challenge with joy of learning.
Like all IB programmes, the MYP, in its aim to encourage holistic learning, emphasizes understanding concepts, mastering skills and developing attitudes as well as learning knowledge. These are all tools designed to help students be successful in our global society, as well as providing a sound foundation for learning in their senior high school years and beyond.

The IB Learner Profile
The IB learner profile is the International Baccalaureate (IB) mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21st century.
The learner profile runs across all IB programmes. It promotes attitudes and characteristics in students that develop international-mindedness. The profile aims to develop learners who are Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective. Through the development of these attributes, students are encouraged to recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship and to help create a better and more peaceful world.
The learner profile provides a long-term vision for education and is a set of ideals that can inspire, motivate and focus the work of the entire school community-students, teachers, administrators and parents, uniting them for a common purpose.
Apply Learning to Real Life Context
The MYP aims to authentically link learning to real-life contexts through the Global Contexts:
Identities and relationships
Personal and cultural identity
Orientations in space and time
Scientific and technical innovation
Fairness and development
Globalization and sustainability
The Diploma Programme (DP)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous, pre-university course of study designed for students aged 16 to 19 who seek a challenging and holistic education. At our school, the DP goes beyond traditional rote learning, encouraging students to ask difficult questions, develop a strong sense of identity, and build the critical thinking skills necessary for success in an increasingly complex world. By balancing academic breadth with depth, the programme empowers students to become lifelong learners who are not only prepared for the world’s most prestigious universities but are also equipped with the empathy and intercultural understanding required to make a positive impact on society.
DP Core
The programme has three core requirements that are included to broaden the educational experience and challenge students to apply their knowledge and understanding.
- The Extended Essay is a requirement for students to engage in independent research through an in-depth study of a question relating to one of the subjects they are studying.
- Theory of knowledge (TOK) is a course designed to encourage each student to reflect on the nature of knowledge by critically examining different kinds of knowledge (scientific, artistic, mathematical and historical).
- Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) supports students to actively learn from the experience of doing real tasks beyond the classroom. Students can combine all three components or do activities related to each one of them separately.
Programme Specifics

- Students take 6 subjects, 1 subject from each group.
- 3 Subjects will be at Higher Level (HL) & 3 at Standard Level (SL).

Experienced International Teachers
At KIS Reignwood Park we are proud of our exceptionally qualified teachers. The majority hail from countries such as the UK, America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. We are further enriched by the diversity of talented educators from many other nations worldwide. All teachers have experience in international school communities and are committed to developing active learners with inquiring minds, ensuring the success of the whole child both academically and personally by putting student’s learning at the heart of everything they do.
We are committed to supporting our teachers as learners ensuring that all faculty are involved in continuous professional development. Professional development allows our teachers to expand their skills and knowledge and grow as educators to better understand our students in and out of the classroom.
Continual Assessment Of Achievement
Assessment is the practice of gathering and analyzing data about student learning and is an integral part of the teaching and learning cycle. It is designed to provide information on what a student understands, knows, and can do at various stages of the learning process. Teachers assess subject group objectives using prescribed assessment criteria provided by the IB for each subject group at each grade level. Assessment is transparent in that students are informed in advance of the criteria against which they will be assessed.
Detailed descriptive and evaluative reports are given to parents twice a year in December and June with regular progress reports throughout the year. Parent, student and teacher conferences are held in October and a student-led conference occurs in the second semester whereby students lead the conference to showcase their learning, communication skills and outline their areas of achievement and goals for learning. These conferences also provide feedback and evidence of student progress towards understanding, knowing, and doing. Student achievement is also benchmarked in a bi-annual standardized assessment called MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) which is a dynamic, adaptive assessment that measures each student’s academic growth and proficiency in reading, mathematics, and language usage.
Promoting Well-being
In Secondary School well-being is a whole school approach to support and maximise student learning, feelings of happiness, accomplishing goals and flourishing in all aspects of school life.
Well-being is crucial to each child’s academic success. We support our Secondary students in building positive relationships and the skills to work collaboratively with others. Social and Emotional Development Programs are embedded in our school culture and also throughout our Secondary advisory curriculum. Our highly qualified teachers and school counselors develop relationships with each child to ensure that learning is personalized and communication between parents and school is prioritized.
