Primary School Leadership
The Primary School at KIS Reignwood Park
Our Primary School at KIS International School Reignwood Park is dedicated to fostering excellence in academics, nurturing a strong sense of responsibility, and instilling the values of good citizenship within a supportive and inclusive learning community.
KIS Reignwood Park is authorized for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Children from Grade 1 to 5 study through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, before they move seamlessly into the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme in our Secondary School.
In order to comprehensively inquire about the world around them, our learners need to have strong literacy and numeracy skills. In our Primary School a key focus is explicitly teaching these core skills. We use researched based practice to inform our systematic approach to tailored learning to ensure our students are strong speakers, listeners, readers and writers. In Mathematics, we explicitly teach problem solving strategies and review and consolidate Mathematical skills each year to ensure that children build their ‘toolkit’ so they can be independent problem solvers who can express their understanding to others with skill, creativity and confidence.

What is the Primary Years Programme (PYP)
The PYP is built around six transdisciplinary themes that help students make connections between different subject areas and the real world. These themes help students build an understanding and appreciation of the local environment in Thailand while also developing a sense of global citizenship. The PYP also incorporates specified concepts to assist students in developing their critical and creative thinking skills. These concepts encourage students to explore and discover through play and to reflect on their learning experiences.
The PYP at KISRP is an inclusive program that is designed to meet the needs of all students. The program is flexible and adaptable, so that it can be tailored to meet the needs of individual students.
PYP at KISRP provides a strong foundation for students to develop a love for learning and to be prepared for life beyond school. We focus on the whole child, and equip them with the skills and knowledge to navigate the world around them. The program’s hands-on, inquiry-based approach encourages students to be curious, and to think critically and creatively. The PYP at KISRP is a great choice for families who are looking for an international education that is challenging, engaging, and inclusive.

Transdisciplinary Learning
The PYP is a transdisciplinary programme, providing interconnectedness between subjects and disciplines wherever possible. It is also connected through core elements:

Knowledge

Concepts

Learning

Action
PYP Key Concepts
The specified concepts are central to the curriculum and are presented in the form of key questions. It is these questions that shape each unit of inquiry giving it direction and purpose. The concepts have been carefully developed to encourage students to develop further open-ended questions and think more broadly and deeply as they develop their inquiries and understandings.
These concepts are:
Form
What is it?
Function
How does it work?
Causation
Why is it like it is?
Change
How is it changing?
Connection
How is it connected to other things?
Perspective
What are the points of view?
Responsibility
What is our responsibility?
Through exploring these concepts children are able to explore big ideas about the world, and develop their own questions in increasingly more cognitive ways.

Dedicated Primary School Facilities
Our dedicated Primary School building within our larger 60-acre school campus offers extensive purpose-built facilities to engage our children in powerful learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Our spacious classrooms are complemented by discovery labs, art ateliers, world language suites, a cooking studio and Primary Dining Hall for lunchtimes, all within our primary building. Our expansive Primary Learning Library provides our students and teachers with resources and collaborative spaces to foster critical thinking, curiosity, and support and challenge learning.
Learning spaces continue outside the classroom with extensive primary adventure playgrounds for stimulating playtimes, a grass sports field and covered sports pitch for Physical Education and our Learning Garden, educating and engaging our children in the process of growing and harvesting food.
Experienced International Teachers
At KIS Reignwood Park we are proud of our exceptionally qualified teachers. The majority hail from countries such as the UK, America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. We are further enriched by the diversity of talented educators from many other nations worldwide. All teachers have experience in international school communities and are committed to developing active learners with inquiring minds, ensuring the success of the whole child both academically and personally by putting children’s learning at the heart of everything they do.
Assessment For Learning
We use assessment to drive student learning. Teachers use a variety of assessment techniques to determine what each child can do and what their next steps in learning need to be. This ‘assessment for learning’ process means that teachers can be responsive to students’ needs and personalize each child’s learning experiences. Attitude, learning skills, social relationships and effort are considered equally important when looking at the overall development of the child.
To foster a strong relationship between home and school we use the Seesaw digital portfolio platform to share learning with parents and extended families ensuring parents receive up-to-date information about their child. Each child’s digital learning portfolio is a secure, private online record of their learning and development where children, teachers and families can communicate and be part of celebrating the learning journey.
Detailed descriptive reports are given to parents twice a year in December and June with progress reports in October and April. Parent, student and teacher conferences are held in October and January and then students lead the conference in May to showcase their learning and confidence. Student achievement is also benchmarked in a bi-annual external assessment called MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) for Grades 3 to 5 which gives valuable information to staff on each student’s academic growth and proficiency, particularly in reading, mathematics, and language arts.
Promoting Well-being
Wellbeing is crucial to each child’s academic success. We support our Primary students in building positive relationships and the skills to work collaboratively with others. Social and Emotional Development Programs are embedded in our school culture and also throughout our Primary curriculum. Our highly qualified teachers and school counsellors develop relationships with each child to ensure that learning is personalized and communication between parents and school is prioritized.
