Early Years 2 unit, “How We Organize Ourselves”, is connected to community helpers., embodying the fundamental concept of “People in a community support one another.”
The students inquired into different community jobs, how the people work together to help each other and how we depend on community helpers. The children went on a field trip to Kidzoona, as well as had different guest speakers in to help them strengthen their conceptual understanding of the central idea.
It was great to have the Huai Kwang firefighters in. They explained what they do in our community, which surprisingly isn’t only to fight fires. They are actually called to help catch snakes more often than to put out fires! The captain told us about different snakes and that they release them into the national parks around Bangkok after catching them. The firemen caught over 60,000 snakes last year!!
The firefighters brought in their newest fire truck which they let the children sit in and sound the siren. They also showed us their fire bike which was pretty awesome! The children strengthened their communication skills as well as heard how caring our community helpers are, not only to people but also the snakes:) It was a really fun day!
Firefighters play a vital role in our community, selflessly helping and safeguarding lives, ensuring our safety, and caring for our well-being
