Counseling & Wellbeing

At KIS, we understand the importance of providing comprehensive support and guidance to our students as they navigate the various academic, social, emotional, career and post-secondary challenges.

Our goal is to empower our students with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to achieve their full potential and to lead fulfilling lives.

Our comprehensive counseling model is intended to support all students, parents, caregivers, and educators. The qualified and dedicated counselors at KIS work with students, teachers, and parents in all grades to provide support in building a strong foundation for social and emotional well being for all.

Counseling in the Primary Division offers comprehensive support to all members of the school community, including students, families, and staff. Through a variety of interventions, including in-class lessons for all grade levels, parent workshops, and individual and small group sessions, the program aims to promote a sense of belonging and to empower individuals to access support when needed. The program is designed to foster the development of knowledge, skills, and understanding to support academic and social-emotional success.

In the Secondary Division, our counseling program is designed to address the diverse needs of our students and to empower them to achieve their full potential.

Our team of secondary counselors are dedicated to working with students to provide guidance and support in areas such as:

  • Transitions: Navigating the various changes and adjustments that students experience throughout their academic journey.

  • Goal Setting: Developing long-term plans and aspirations for the future and creating actionable steps towards achieving them.

  • Emotional Regulation: Developing the skills and strategies to manage emotions effectively and to maintain mental well-being.

  • Resilience and Mindset: Building the resilience and mental fortitude required to overcome obstacles and persevere in the face of adversity.

  • Organization and Planning: Developing effective organizational strategies and time management skills to improve productivity and success.

  • Motivation: Finding the drive and inspiration to pursue goals and to achieve success.
