Feel the holiday spirit even in chemistry class!

Our Grade 12 class celebrated the end of Term 1 by crafting a spectacular 'Christmas Chemistree' using colorful solutions of transition metals like iron, copper, nickel, and cobalt.

For this occasion, students ran two experiments called Golden Rain and Dancing Flame. The yellow sparkle is lead iodide precipitate and the green flame is hydrogen gas produced from a mixture of aluminum foil, copper chloride and hydrochloric acid solution.

Students practiced safety precautions in the lab while learning about single displacement and double displacement reactions.
